ZGL Cosmetics started where most Nigerian skincare brands start: with a sister, a kitchen counter, and a complete refusal to use another foreign cream that wasn’t built for melanin.
Number 01Our Origin
We made this because we needed it.
Every founder photo in cosmetics is the same: a smiling person holding their product on a clean white background, claiming they’ll never sell out. We won’t do that with you.
ZGL began in 2021, in a flat off Allen Avenue, when we got tired of the cycle: buy the foreign cream, watch it work for two weeks, watch our skin react in the third, find it on a shelf in Boots two years later for half the price. We wanted a brand built for Lagos humidity, Harmattan dust, the AC at work, the cooking heat at home, and the actual tones of the people walking past us.
We started with the X7 line. Reformulated it eighteen times until our friends — the ones who tell the truth — said it worked. Then added Skin Doctor for the concerns nobody else was treating properly, Argan+ because half the Argan in Lagos is fake, Kojic because the category needed an honest player, and Bathgel because every parent we knew had the same eczema problem.
We’re still small enough to know which contractor packed your last bottle. That’s on purpose.
